Cameras are rolling. Filming officially kicked off around August 10, 2025, with scenes shot near Bank Station and the Royal Exchange in London. The production showcases lavish 1950s-style sets, placing the story in post-war Britain rather than the Victorian-era setting from C.S. Lewis’s original novel.

Crowds of extras, authentic props such as posters advertising boxing matches and music halls, and even a golden-maned lion billboard help immerse viewers in this mid-century vision. It is still unclear whether the shift to the 1950s applies to the entire film or serves as a framing device.

The adaptation centers on The Magician’s Nephew, with young Digory Kirke and Polly Plummer at the story’s heart. Greta Gerwig was spotted with two still-unidentified actors believed to be playing them. Emma Mackey is confirmed as the White Witch. Daniel Craig is cast as Uncle Andrew. Carey Mulligan is in talks for a role, and Meryl Streep is expected to voice Aslan.

Filming will take place in London, the South East, and Shepperton Studios. Production is expected to wrap in early 2026, ahead of a late 2026 theatrical IMAX release followed by a Netflix premiere.

Gerwig’s decision to set the story in the 1950s could reshape how the Narnia world unfolds in her adaptation. It opens narrative flexibility, allows for creative interpretation, and promises a visually rich retelling that respects the spirit of Lewis while reimagining its aesthetic.
