Marvel came to Hall H this year with the Avengers front and center, and the studio spread the news across the movie slate, a marquee poster drop, and a comics panel that reshapes the team’s future on the page. Here is everything Avengers-related that landed at San Diego Comic-Con 2026.
Doomsday Owned Hall H
Avengers: Doomsday was the anchor of the Marvel Studios panel on July 25. Kevin Feige brought out Robert Downey Jr. and the rest of the ensemble, staging the cast across three separate platforms to show off the sheer size of the roster. The film is still locked for December 18, 2026.
The centerpiece was a new poster built around Downey’s Doctor Doom, and every attendee walked out with a copy. Marvel also screened exclusive footage that has not gone online, so for now the description lives only with the people who were in the room.
What the Footage Showed
Before the clip rolled, Pedro Pascal set the stage by confirming that his Reed Richards and Victor von Doom share a history the movie plans to explore, and he leaned into the idea that the two are close. The footage itself painted Doom as a deeply damaged figure, with Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby) describing just how broken he has become. Doom talks about people who have lived stolen lives being forced to give them back, Reed confronts him directly over whatever has happened, and the sequence closes with Doom deflecting a strike from Thor’s hammer and raising the sentinels.
Two Surprise Appearances
Hayley Atwell is officially back as Peggy Carter in Doomsday, and she reunited with Chris Evans on the panel stage. Ryan Reynolds also turned up, sitting in the audience in a gray Deadpool suit and needling the studio about how much it costs to announce a movie this way. His actual involvement in the film was not confirmed, and the gray suit appears to nod toward his X-Force role.
The Slate Around Doomsday
The panel carried plenty of news that orbits the Avengers story even when it was not strictly about the team.
Feige opened by teasing an Avengers: Endgame re-release headed to theaters on September 25, with attendees reportedly getting a first look at an Endgame Encore cut. Ryan Gosling was confirmed as Ghost Rider in a solo film from director Shawn Levy, aimed at 2028, and Gosling appeared in person to mark it. Ryan Coogler closed the show by announcing Black Panther III for December 15, 2028, with David Jonsson stepping in as T’Challa’s son and the new Black Panther.
Worth noting for anyone tracking the road to the finale: Avengers: Secret Wars and the next X-Men movie were left off the panel entirely, and VisionQuest earned only a passing mention.
The Avengers Are Rebuilding in the Comics Too
Over on the publishing side, the Avengers: Armageddon panel laid out where the team goes after the event wraps. Chip Zdarsky detailed his upcoming Avengers run with artist Marco Checchetto, picking up in a shattered world that has turned against the heroes as they try to regroup.
That regrouping opens a door. With the Avengers off the board, a fresh mutant squad steps up as Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in Maximum X-Men, a new ongoing from writer Christopher Yost and artist Tony S. Daniel. Storm, coming straight off her time with the Avengers, assembles the roster, tying the two franchises together as the new status quo takes shape.
