James Gunn and Peter Safran have announced a new Swamp Thing film, part of a fresh slate of DC projects. The movie will delve into the dark origins of the character and feature other DC characters as well. The film will be more horrific in nature but will still have Swamp Thing interact with other characters. Swamp Thing was previously seen on the small screen in a short-lived TV series and in a 1982 film directed by Wes Craven. The character is a humanoid/plant elemental creature that resembles an anthropomorphic mound of vegetable matter and fights to protect the swamp home, environment, and humanity from supernatural and terrorist threats.
