The tabletop adaptation of Matt Dinniman’s runaway LitRPG hit is officially open for pre-order, and after one of the biggest crowdfunding runs the hobby has ever seen, you no longer need to have backed the campaign to get in. Renegade Game Studios has put the Dungeon Crawler Carl Roleplaying Game and its lineup of pre-painted miniatures up for order ahead of a November 2026 release, with listings live both at Renegade directly and on Amazon.

If you missed the original campaign, the scale of it is worth knowing. The project launched on BackerKit in April 2026 with a modest $250,000 goal and closed having raised more than $13.29 million from nearly 56,000 backers, making it the most funded game in BackerKit history and one of the largest tabletop crowdfunding campaigns ever. That kind of demand is exactly why the pre-order window matters, and why some Amazon listings are already showing sellouts.

The Core Rulebook

The Core Rulebook is the centerpiece. It runs more than 300 pages and focuses on World Dungeon floors three through five, picking up where the Starter Set leaves off. Inside you get the full character creation system, skills, spells, neighborhoods, saferooms, loot, and mobs, plus the framework for building your own crawler from the ground up. With 30 plus playable races and a deep class roster, the system leans into the near-infinite character combinations that fans of the books will recognize. You can run a familiar face like Carl, Donut, Florin, or Prepotente, or roll your own and try to survive long enough to matter.

For a limited time, pre-orders of the Core Rulebook through Renegade come with a free PDF copy, which is a nice cushion while you wait on the physical book.

If you are brand new to the system, the Starter Set is the on-ramp. It covers the tutorial floors one and two and walks crawlers through the basics of surviving Borant’s World Dungeon. It is the cleaner entry point if you would rather learn the rules before committing to the full Core Rulebook.

The Miniatures

There are three pre-painted miniature sets, and each one pulls characters straight from the series. The figures come on small bases meant to track movement and distance as you push deeper into the dungeon.

Set 1, The Royal Court, contains nine figures built around the main cast, including Carl, Princess Donut, Baby Mongo, Mongo, Donut riding Mongo, Carl in his explosives “expert” pose, Samantha, and Katia Grim.

Set 2, Enemies and Allies, adds ten figures focused on key side characters, including Hekla, Eva, Prepotente, Bianca, Quan Ch, Florin, both the day and night forms of Lucia Mar, and her dogs Gustavo 3 and Cici.

Set 3, Mobs of Mordecai, rounds things out with the dungeon’s threats, including a Ratkin, Bugaboo, Incubus, Grulke, Skyfowl, Pocket Kuma, Hill Cyclops, and a Human Canadian.

Where to buy and when it ships

You have two clean paths. Ordering directly from Renegade Game Studios gives you access to the full catalog for the RPG, including the Starter Set, Core Rulebook, GM Screen, the Carl, Princess Donut, and Smush dice sets, and all three miniature assortments. Renegade also lists the Dungeon Crawler Carl: Unstoppable card game alongside its Crawler Chaos and Iron Tangle expansions if you want the deck-building side of the franchise too.

Amazon carries the Core Rulebook and the miniature sets as well, though availability there has been less consistent and a few listings have already gone in and out of stock. If a specific item is showing sold out on Amazon, the Renegade store is the more reliable bet.

Retail release for both games is planned for late November 2026, with backer fulfillment beginning in October. A handful of Amazon listings show a December 1, 2026 date, so expect the physical product to land right around the end of the year.

The timing lines up with a very good stretch for the franchise. Dinniman published the eighth book in the series this year, a TV adaptation is in development, and the tabletop game is arriving with more momentum behind it than almost any RPG launch in recent memory.
