A new report from Avatar News suggests that Netflix’s upcoming live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender and the world being built by Avatar Studios are related and that Netflix has the rights to adapt the characters and story of the show. The report also suggests that the relationship between Avatar Studios and Netflix is positive, but this has not been officially confirmed. The creators of the animated series, Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino, were originally attached to the live-action series at Netflix, but they announced their departure two years into the development of the show. They are now co-chief creative officers of Avatar Studios, a division of Nickelodeon dedicated to expanding the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra.
