The Lion King Sequel in the Works

A Lion King sequel is underway with Director Barry Jenkins at the helm. Jenkins is best known for 2016’s “Moonlight” which won Best Picture. According to Deadline, the film will continue the style of Jon Favreau’s The Lion King and explore the mythology of the characters and Mufasa’s origin. Reviews were mediocre for the first film with Rotten Tomatoes giving it 52% and Metacritic a 55% but the movie was a huge fiscal success making $1.6 Billion worldwide.
