Nearly three years after the season one finale left Ahsoka and Sabine stranded on Peridea, Lucasfilm has finally shown us what comes next. Dave Filoni took the stage at D23 in Anaheim with Rosario Dawson, Hayden Christensen, and Eman Esfandi to debut the first teaser for Ahsoka season two, plus new poster art. It hits Disney+ on January 20, 2027.
The trailer opens with Anakin’s voice asking Ahsoka what troubles her, then moves to a snowy forest and a young Ahsoka played once again by Ariana Greenblatt, wearing a winter jacket that calls back to her Clone Wars season four look. Christensen’s Anakin shows up as a Force ghost training the adult version, and the question he keeps pressing her on is the one the whole season seems built around. Are you or are you not a Jedi.
Christensen described Anakin’s role as advisor and antagonist at once, someone who challenges Ahsoka rather than reassures her. Dawson called the season massive, with bigger battles and higher stakes, and Ahsoka’s line in the footage backs that up when she says they are in more danger than she thought.
The story splits across two fronts. Ahsoka and Sabine are still trying to find their way home from beyond the known galaxy, while Hera Syndulla, Ezra Bridger, Zeb Orrelios, and Chopper deal with Grand Admiral Thrawn, who has declared war on the New Republic. Esfandi confirmed Ezra is reunited with his Rebels family and fighting for the New Republic against the Imperial Remnant.
There is also a thread running through the teaser about something Baylan Skoll was chasing, a power he believed could end wars. Rory McCann takes over the role following Ray Stevenson’s death in 2023, and that search looks like it will pull Ahsoka in a direction that has nothing to do with Thrawn’s fleet.
Returning cast includes Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, David Tennant as Huyang, and Lars Mikkelsen as Thrawn.
The timing is deliberate. Season two arrives one month before the theatrical re-release marking the 50th anniversary of the original Star Wars.
