Avatar: Seven Havens is renewed for Books 3 and 4 on Paramount+. Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko announced it on the New York Comic Con Main Stage on Friday, October 9, the same morning the first three episodes started streaming. They followed it with a second announcement: a new animated series called Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos.

Seven Havens Now Runs at Least Four Books

Paramount+ originally ordered 26 half-hour episodes of Seven Havens, split into two Books of 13. The renewal doubles that commitment before Book 1 has finished airing. Books 3 and 4 stay with Pavi, the Earthbender who follows Korra as the Avatar, and her twin sister Nisha.

Book 2 does not have a premiere date. Paramount+ says details on Books 2, 3 and 4 are coming later.

The rest of Book 1 arrives on Fridays. Episodes 4 through 6 land October 16, episodes 7 through 9 on October 23, and the last four on October 30.

Janet Varney, the voice of Korra, moderated the panel. DiMartino and Konietzko were joined by executive producer Ethan Spaulding, co-executive producer Sehaj Sethi, and the three lead voice actors: Saheli Khan as Pavi, Aishu Devan as Nisha and Major Curda as Jae. The group showed a script-to-screen clip comparing the written page to finished animation. Konietzko told the crowd that some of the ideas in Seven Havens are old ones left over from the original Avatar days.

Kuruk Gets His Own Show

Kuruk is the Water Tribe Avatar who came before Kyoshi. In the original series he shows up briefly in the finale to advise Aang, and Koh the Face Stealer talks about taking the face of the woman Kuruk loved. Wave of Chaos goes back to when he was 14.

The Hollywood Reporter says the series was pitched to the room as the franchise’s first action comedy. In it, Kuruk refuses to train the way Avatars have for thousands of years and decides to learn the four elements by traveling the world. His teacher is furious and chasing him, and he keeps running into pirates and spirits along the way.

Konietzko is the showrunner. Avatar Studios and Nickelodeon Animation Studios are producing. The panel audience saw the first artwork of Kuruk and his animal companion, Nikik, and Paramount+ released a set of character expression sheets afterward.

There is no cast, episode count or release window yet.

The Fighting Game and the Podcast

Varney also showed new content for Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game. Every playable character is getting a Seven Havens colorway, and the game is adding a stage set at Sonam’s temple. Sonam is the airbender Avatar introduced in this summer’s Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender movie.

Avatar: Braving the Elements, the companion podcast Varney hosts with Dante Basco, is covering Seven Havens with creator and cast interviews. Three episodes are out this week, with two a week to follow through October 30.

On the Show Floor

Abrams is selling two books at Booth 3429 ahead of their release dates: Allison King’s novelization of Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender and Ramin Zahed’s art book for the film. VeVe and CyberCel have a convention-exclusive mystery box at Booth 3327 for $99.90. Each one holds a CGC-graded Avatar slab and two elemental pins, and 11 of the possible slabs are signed by voice actors.
