DC announced Absolute Justice at New York Comic Con on Friday. The five-issue miniseries puts the heroes of the Absolute Universe in one story for the first time, with Jason Aaron writing and Juan Ferreyra on art. The first issue arrives in April 2027.

The lineup named so far is Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, Flash, and Green Lantern Jo Mullein. Martian Manhunter is the character who pulls the group together, which gives Deniz Camp and Javier Rodríguez’s 12-issue Absolute Martian Manhunter a direct line into the event. Scott Snyder flagged this back in April, telling fans at a signing that the character “plays a big role in the event.”

A Crossover With No Tie-Ins

The entire story runs inside those five issues. There are no tie-in issues, and Absolute Batman, Absolute Superman, Absolute Wonder Woman, and the other ongoing books keep telling their own stories while the event is on shelves. A reader who only follows one Absolute title can pick up Absolute Justice without buying anything else.

Aaron is scripting, but the plot belongs to the full Absolute writers’ room. Snyder said in April that all of the line’s writers are plotting it together, and Bleeding Cool reports that each writer is supplying dialogue for the characters from their own book. At the NYCC panel, Snyder described Aaron as essentially the co-architect of the Absolute Universe and said the series gets into the deeper lore of the line.

Ferreyra is already part of that world. He has been drawing Absolute Superman alongside Rafa Sandoval, so he and Aaron come into the event as an existing team.

The Justice League Already Belongs to the Villains

The title comes from Absolute Evil #1, the 2025 one-shot by Al Ewing and Giuseppe Camuncoli. In that issue the lead villains from across the line sit down together. Veronica Cale, Ra’s al Ghul, Hector Hammond, and Brainiac are at the table, and the Joker presents the Omega Particle, a building block of the universe that bends toward oppression. The group toasts itself as the Justice League, and the book’s final title page renames it Absolute Justice.

The NYCC trailer picks up from there. Its narration says the arrival of heroes brought hope to this world, and that the people who actually run it want that hope gone. Snyder told Popverse in June that the crossover will also introduce new heroes and new villains beyond the six announced leads.

Later Than First Planned

DC first teased the event at ComicsPRO in February and slotted it for the fourth quarter of 2026. April 2027 puts it a few months behind that window, and DC has not said why. Bleeding Cool reports that Absolute Crisis is still planned to follow and may also land later than expected.

DC has not announced an exact on-sale date, cover artists, or which villains appear in the series.
