The Dungeon Crawler Carl roleplaying game is releasing to retail in November 2026, a month later than earlier coverage indicated. Renegade Game Studios has moved its product pages to a November window across the line, and distributor PHD Games lists a street date of November 23, 2026 for both the Core Rulebook and the GM Screen and Token Set.

The October dates that circulated last week were not wrong so much as pointed at a different audience. Backer fulfillment from the BackerKit campaign begins October 31, so the roughly 56,000 people who funded the game still get their boxes first. Store shelves come three weeks later.

What the Game Actually Is

Renegade’s adaptation puts players inside Borant Corporation’s televised World Dungeon as crawlers rather than as spectators. Characters build out of more than 30 playable races and a class roster with named subclasses, and the rulebook includes guidance for writing your own races, classes, and skills on top of that. Canon characters are on the table too, so a group can run Carl, Princess Donut, and Katia straight out of the book or build originals alongside them.

The corporate machinery of the setting is written into the mechanics rather than left as background color. Ads, sponsorships, achievements, viewer attention, and loot boxes all carry rules weight, which is the part that distinguishes it from a generic dungeon crawl with a licensed skin.

The Core Rulebook runs past 300 pages at $65 and covers World Dungeon floors 3 through 5, with character creation, spells, neighborhoods, saferooms, loot, mobs, and bosses. Renegade puts the content at more than 24 sessions of play, with eight or more neighborhoods and quests per floor.

The Rest of the Launch

The $55 Starter Set handles the on-ramp, staying on tutorial floors 1 and 2 with a Game Master’s Campaign Toolkit, pre-made character sheets based on characters from the novels, a one-shot, tokens, and rules that feed directly into the Core Rulebook. The GM Screen and Token Set is $25 and carries skill checks, magic item buffs and debuffs, and combat sequencing on the screen itself, plus more than 70 punchboard tokens for mobs, traps, NPCs, loot boxes, and bosses.

Three prepainted minis sets round out the tabletop support at $65 each. The Royal Court Minis Set 1 covers nine main-cast figures, Allies & Enemies Minis Set 2 brings ten including Hekla, Eva, Bianca, Prepotente, and Lucia Mar in separate day and night sculpts, and Mobs of Mordecai Minis Set 3 carries eight centered on Mordecai. All three are built to 28-32mm scale for one inch equals five feet grids, so they work in other systems.

Dice come in character sets like Smush at $25 and a Princess Donut set. The Loot Packs are the one product that stayed in October. Each pack holds a seven-piece polyhedral set and a collectible temporary tattoo, pulled from 20 dice designs across rarity tiers with three Legendary sets and 20 tattoo options, and a 20-pack display case is also available.

Running alongside the RPG is Dungeon Crawler Carl: Unstoppable, a card-crafting deck-builder for solo or two-player co-op play set across the 18-floor World Dungeon. Each card is a sleeve with swappable parts, so decks get physically rebuilt as a run progresses.

Support does not stop at launch. The RPG Season Pass runs November 2026 through October 2027 and delivers ten digital content drops covering neighborhoods, bosses, mobs, hostile NPCs, additional classes and races, crawler pre-gens, skills, magic items, weapons, and loot.

How It Got This Big

The BackerKit campaign opened with a $250,000 goal and closed May 19, 2026 after nearly four days in overtime, finishing above $13.29 million from 55,972 backers. That made it the most-funded game campaign in BackerKit’s history and the second most-funded tabletop RPG ever crowdfunded.

The source material explains the appetite. Matt Dinniman self-published the first Dungeon Crawler Carl novel in 2020, and the series now runs eight books past 14 million copies sold, with a ninth, The Beautiful Place, in progress. Jeff Hays narrates the Audible editions, which have logged more than 140 million listening hours. A WEBTOON adaptation and a graphic novel are already out, and Peacock has a live-action series in development through Universal International Studios and Seth MacFarlane’s Fuzzy Door Productions, with Hays attached to voice Princess Donut.

A caution for anyone shopping third-party listings: Barnes & Noble still shows the Allies & Enemies minis set at October 29, 2026, and Merchoid lists it as shipping January 2027. Renegade’s own November window is the reliable one.

Pre-orders for the Core Rulebook, Starter Set, and every accessory are open now at Renegade Game Studios.
