Ryan Gosling and Ghost Rider have been one of those fan-casting ideas that refused to go away, and now there is finally a real update behind the speculation. During the press run for Project Hail Mary, Gosling confirmed that conversations with Marvel about the role have happened. The important detail is that he did not announce a deal, a signed contract, or an upcoming project. He described the situation as complicated and left the door open rather than shutting the rumor down.

That matters because this is no longer just social media wish-casting. For years, fans have pushed Gosling as a strong fit for Ghost Rider, and the actor himself has shown interest in the character going back to 2022. At the time, Gosling said Ghost Rider was the Marvel role he wanted most, and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige publicly responded by saying he would love to find a place for him in the MCU. The new update makes it clear that the idea moved past casual red carpet banter and into actual discussions, even if those talks have not yet resulted in anything official.

For Marvel fans, that puts the story in an interesting middle ground. Gosling is not attached in any formal sense, but there is now enough smoke here to treat the rumor seriously. Marvel has also been careful with Ghost Rider as a character. Nicolas Cage famously played Johnny Blaze in two live-action films, while Gabriel Luna brought Robbie Reyes to television in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. There was once a Hulu-centered Ghost Rider project in development, but that version never moved forward. So while the character has stayed popular, Marvel Studios has still not formally revealed how Ghost Rider will return in a major MCU feature or series.
If Gosling ever does step into the role, it would immediately become one of Marvel’s most talked-about casting moves. He has the star power, the offbeat intensity, and the kind of screen presence that could make Ghost Rider feel less like a nostalgic revival and more like a major new pillar for the supernatural side of the MCU. For now, though, the cleanest takeaway is simple: Ryan Gosling has talked to Marvel about Ghost Rider, but Marvel has not announced him, and fans are still waiting to see whether these discussions turn into something real.
