A new movie description from UK cinema chain Everyman has kicked off a fresh wave of Mario movie speculation, and this one is a little harder for fans to ignore.
The listing reportedly describes The Super Mario Galaxy Movie as a story where Mario, after beating Bowser and saving Brooklyn, now has to deal with an alliance between Bowser Jr. and Wario. If that description is accurate, it would be the first clear sign that Wario is part of the sequel, even though Nintendo and Illumination have not officially announced him in trailers or cast materials yet.

That is the big reason this rumor is getting traction. It is not just another blurry toy photo or a frame-by-frame fan theory. It is a full plot summary posted on a theater page that directly names Wario. Those listings are not always perfect, so it is still smart to treat this as unconfirmed until Nintendo says it themselves. Still, it is specific enough that fans are taking it seriously.
If Wario really is in the movie, it makes a lot of sense for where this sequel seems to be headed. Bowser Jr. is already confirmed, and pairing him with Wario gives the movie a villain combo that feels fresh without abandoning Bowser’s side of the world completely. It also opens the door for a more chaotic, rivalry-driven story instead of simply repeating the first movie’s setup.

What is officially confirmed is already a lot. Nintendo and Illumination are releasing The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on April 1, 2026 in the U.S., with Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic back directing and Matthew Fogel returning as writer. Nintendo also confirmed the returning core cast and the additions of Benny Safdie as Bowser Jr. and Brie Larson as Rosalina, plus the recent Yoshi reveal that pushed excitement for the sequel even higher.

This Wario rumor also lands at a time when fans are already in full detective mode with this movie. Recent chatter around trailer frames and toy packaging has people looking for hidden characters and deep cuts, including R.O.B. and even a possible Fox McCloud tease in a very quick shot from a newer spot. Whether those theories pan out or not, the pattern is clear: fans expect Nintendo to stack this sequel with surprises, and the Everyman description fits that energy perfectly.
The interesting part now is how Nintendo handles it. If Wario is real, the studio can still save the voice reveal and character look for one more trailer and turn a leak into a bigger marketing moment. If the listing is wrong, fans will find out soon enough because the movie is close. Either way, this is exactly the kind of rumor that gets people talking, and for a Mario sequel heading into release season, that is probably not the worst thing in the world.
