Pixar just dropped a new Toy Story 5 trailer on February 19, 2026, and it’s leaning hard into a very modern problem: kids are obsessed with screens. The setup is simple, relatable, and honestly kind of brutal for a room full of toys whose entire purpose is getting picked up and played with.
The trailer puts Woody, Buzz, Jessie, and the rest of the gang face to face with Lilypad, a high-tech, frog-shaped tablet that quickly becomes the new center of attention. Instead of a traditional “villain,” Lilypad feels more like the kind of confident device that thinks it knows what’s best for a kid’s time. That makes the threat to playtime feel less like a big evil scheme and more like something that’s already happening in a lot of homes.
What makes this hook work is that Toy Story has always been about change. The movies keep finding new ways to test the toys’ place in a kid’s life, whether it’s a new favorite toy, growing up, or moving on completely. “Toy meets Tech” is the next step, and the trailer sells it as both funny and a little unsettling in that classic Toy Story way.
Behind the camera, Andrew Stanton is directing (with Kenna Harris co-directing and Lindsey Collins producing), and the voice cast is stacked. Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, and Joan Cusack are back, with Greta Lee joining as Lilypad. The supporting lineup includes familiar faces like Forky (Tony Hale) and Bo Peep (Annie Potts), plus newcomers like Conan O’Brien as a tech toy named Smarty Pants, and other new characters introduced alongside the trailer’s rollout.
Toy Story 5 hits theaters on June 19, 2026.
