Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell are teaming up again, but instead of going straight for a nostalgia reboot, they’re swerving into a full horror comedy. The duo has signed on to star in and produce Kenan & Kel Meet Frankenstein, a new feature that borrows its DNA from old-school monster mash comedies and then remixes it with their specific brand of chaos.
The setup is simple in the best way. They play two delivery drivers on what should be a routine drop off. The problem is the address is a creepy castle that looks like it fell out of a different movie entirely. Things go from weird to worse when they accidentally wake Frankenstein’s monster, turning their night into a survival situation that still leaves room for laughs.
If that premise instantly makes you think of the classic “comedians vs. monsters” era, that’s not an accident. The project is explicitly inspired by the Abbott and Costello monster films, which is a smart lane for Kenan and Kel. Those movies worked because the monsters were treated like real threats while the comedy stayed character-driven. You can make the monster scary, and still let the leads panic, argue, improvise, and stumble their way through it.
On the creative side, Jonah Feingold is writing the script. Thompson’s Artists for Artists is producing alongside Range Media Partners, and Range is also handling sales. It’s set to shoot in summer 2026, with additional casting expected later.

The reason this announcement is hitting so hard is that it feels like a genuine “next chapter” for the duo. They have decades of built-in chemistry, but this is not just another round of familiar catchphrases. Horror comedy demands timing, commitment, and pacing. If the movie plays it straight on the monster side and lets Kenan and Kel be the human mess in the middle, it could land in that sweet spot where the laughs come from how real the fear feels.
And honestly, the title alone tells you they’re leaning into the fun of it. It sounds like something you’d spot on a VHS shelf at midnight and immediately throw on with friends. That vibe is hard to fake, and it’s exactly why this could work.
