Rockstar has shifted Grand Theft Auto VI to November 19, 2026. The new date arrived in Take-Two’s second quarter report, where the company also raised its full-year outlook on the back of strong results. The message is simple. GTA 6 needs more time, and Take-Two says the team has its full support to deliver an unrivalled blockbuster entertainment experience.

How we got here

GTA 6 was first targeted for fall 2025. That window slid to May 26, 2026 earlier this year, and now it lands on November 19, 2026. The move fits Rockstar’s long history of pushing big releases to hit a quality bar fans expect. CEO Strauss Zelnick framed the latest delay as time to polish, and expressed confidence that the game remains on track within the company’s fiscal plans.

What the numbers say

Take-Two reported net bookings of 1.96 billion dollars for the quarter, the best second quarter in company history. The biggest contributors were NBA 2K26, Borderlands 4, GTA Online and GTA V, mobile hits like Toon Blast and Match Factory, plus Mafia The Old Country. NBA 2K26 has already cleared five million units since its September launch, which helps explain the raised outlook even with GTA 6 moving out.

The other storyline

Today’s announcement arrives amid labor tension. In recent days, more than 30 Rockstar staffers were dismissed for what the company called gross misconduct related to leaking confidential information. The Independent Workers’ Union of Great Britain disputes that explanation and accuses Rockstar of union busting. Protesters gathered outside Rockstar North in Edinburgh and Take-Two’s London office today, pressing for reinstatements. Rockstar says the firings were not related to union activity.

What it means for players

For fans, the near term is still busy. NBA 2K26 is performing, Borderlands 4 is off to a hot start, and Mafia The Old Country continues its run. GTA V and GTA Online remain top earners and should keep getting attention while the next game bakes. The date movement is frustrating, but the goal is clear. Rockstar wants GTA 6 to feel finished on day one.
