We recorded this one in person after a packed con month, so the energy is high and the takes are fresh. In this episode, we react to the Mandalorian & Grogu trailer, talk through why 2026 looks huge for Game of Thrones, break down the Wolverine gameplay reveal, and sketch out where Peaky Blinders is headed with a WWII movie and a 1953 sequel series. We also check in on The Simpsons Movie 2, share our October watchlist, and give a quick signal boost to Jordan Peele’s Him hitting digital with bonus content.

Mandalorian & Grogu feels like a real Star Wars movie again

That poster and trailer combo hits a very specific nerve. Old school adventure. Clean typography. Pulp flavor without feeling corny. On screen it looks bigger and glossier than the series, which is what you want from a feature. We talk practical effects for Grogu, how the action has more weight, and why this is an easy IMAX choice. The quick shot of a walker tumbling off a cliff sold the “we’re back on the big screen” scale.

Two Thrones projects in 2026 needs real payoff

House of the Dragon season 3 has to open with consequences. Viewers sat through a season of setup. Now it is time for the clashes we have been teased. We kick around an idea that would be fun to see studios try more often. Let a season build to a climactic battle, then drop a feature-length event in theaters the following weekend. The episode feeds the movie. The movie feeds the next season. Everyone wins.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms looks like the perfect counterbalance. Smaller story. Ground-level problems. More “Knight’s Tale” than capital politics. Give us character, sunlight, and dusty roads. A quick trip to Dorne would sweeten the deal.

The Simpsons Movie 2 only works if it swings big

We love animation. We will show up. Still, the movie needs a timely hook that actually benefits from a cinematic run. The first film went after environmental regulation. This one should have a clear modern target. Keep the heart in Springfield, but do not be afraid of a bigger playground if the story earns it.

Wolverine’s first real swing looks heavy and mean

Insomniac’s combat has punch. Camera shifts put you in the hit, and the claw work feels deliberate. We talk about how Omega Red immediately raises the stakes by dampening healing and how Mystique can twist the story in fun ways. Scent tracking is a smart power to turn into a mechanic. Day one purchase for us.

Peaky Blinders is built for this handoff

The film is set during World War II and plays to Tommy Shelby’s strengths. Operate in the gray. Move money and influence where institutions cannot. That tees up the 1953 sequel series. Postwar rebuilds mean shifting power, new rivals, and a very different Birmingham. If the show gets back to street-level scrapping while letting history breathe in the background, it can hit the early-season magic again.

October watchlist

A busy month with a little something for everyone.

  • Solar Opposites
  • Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss on Prime
  • Star Wars: Visions
  • It: Welcome to Derry with Bill Skarsgård back in the makeup
  • The Witcher returns for its final season with a new lead

We also talk quick rewatches. Invincible still plays great, and a Tron marathon is a smart warmup for the new film.
