Jeremy Renner hasn’t fired his last arrow just yet.

Although Avengers: Doomsday is shaping up to be a massive crossover event with several returning Marvel heroes, Clint Barton isn’t currently in the fight. Still, Renner is staying optimistic about Hawkeye’s future; both in his own show and the wider MCU.

Speaking to Empire, Renner was candid about his readiness to return, even after Disney’s failed attempt to bring him back for Hawkeye Season 2 at half his original salary. That lowball offer, which Renner said came from Disney accountants and not Marvel Studios, caused the second season to stall. But now, he seems hopeful a return is still on the table.

“I’m always happy to be in that world, man,” Renner said. “I love all those guys, I love the character. I’m sure we’ll end up doing Season 2, and do other things.”

It’s a change in tone that suggests some fences may have been mended behind the scenes. Renner emphasized that he’s in top shape and ready to wear the suit again, even poking fun at the idea of still looking good in tights. That kind of lighthearted confidence points to a door that isn’t quite closed.

Hawkeye, which premiered on Disney+ in 2021, introduced Kate Bishop and leaned into the grounded, character-driven side of Marvel’s world. The series was well received but left hanging without confirmation of more to come. Earlier rumors hinted at a second season inspired by action films like The Raid, with a tighter, more contained story. Renner didn’t deny those rumors, saying only “some” of them were true.

Marvel Studios’ Brad Winderbaum has also noted that the studio is still open to a Season 2, calling out the show’s “fun dynamics” and holiday spirit. The holdup seems to be less about creative interest and more about timing and budget — especially with Marvel scaling back its TV and movie output.

Still, there’s plenty of space left in the Multiverse Saga, and it’d be odd for one of the original Avengers to sit out entirely. Even if Hawkeye doesn’t get another season, Renner’s Clint could easily pop up in other projects, especially as more legacy heroes return to the fold. The guy survived Budapest, Thanos, and a Ronin phase. There’s no reason to think a return isn’t in reach.

Whether it’s another season or a surprise cameo in Doomsday, Clint Barton’s story isn’t finished. And neither is Jeremy Renner’s.
