DC Studios is officially bringing Wonder Woman back to the big screen with a fresh face behind the script. Ana Nogueira, already a key creative voice in the new DC Universe, has been tapped to write the next Wonder Woman film. This marks a full reboot of the character and her role in the “Gods and Monsters” chapter of DC’s relaunch.

Nogueira has quickly become one of DC’s go-to writers. She wrote the upcoming Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which is in post-production and scheduled to release on June 26, 2026. The film stars Milly Alcock as a hardened and nomadic Kara Zor-El, based on Tom King’s comic series. Nogueira is also working on the live-action Teen Titans project, which is still under wraps.
This new Wonder Woman film will be the first full feature to introduce a rebooted Diana Prince. Gal Gadot last appeared as the character in Wonder Woman 1984 and made cameos in The Flash and other DC films. Her time as the Amazon warrior ends with the studio’s leadership change, as James Gunn and Peter Safran take over and begin building a unified DC Universe.
Back in June, Gunn confirmed that both a Wonder Woman film and an HBO Max series titled Paradise Island were in development. The series will explore the political history of Themyscira and may serve as a setup for Diana’s new origin. Gunn also noted that this new version of Wonder Woman will be a very different take from what fans have seen before.
What that actually looks like is still a mystery. But with Nogueira at the helm, it is likely we will see something more grounded, character-driven, and emotionally focused.
This is just one part of the broader “Gods and Monsters” slate, which also includes Superman, Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Swamp Thing, and more. It is a reset designed to introduce fresh creative voices and bold interpretations across the DC lineup.
Casting for Wonder Woman has not been announced yet, but all eyes will be on who takes up the Lasso of Truth next and how she fits into the larger DC Universe.
