It’s Wednesday and that means new comics are hitting the shelves. This week’s lineup is packed with iconic heroes, wild villains, and a few cosmic curveballs. I’ve pulled together my favorite picks from this New Comic Book Day and dug into what each of them is bringing to the table.

The New Gods #7
The fallout from The New Gods continues as the survivors of New Genesis arrive on Earth. The world-hopping mythos of Jack Kirby’s pantheon gets a grounded twist as these displaced immortals are forced to reckon with being strangers on a planet full of its own superhumans. Will humanity see them as allies or threats? This issue sets up some serious tension with shades of political and superhero drama.

Batman and Robin: Year One #8
Things get personal when Clayface and The General come knocking at Wayne Manor. This issue ramps up the stakes in the “Year One” saga as Batman and Robin must protect their secrets while facing off against a brute who can shapeshift and a tactician who’s getting a little too close to the truth. It is a tight blend of action and suspense with a solid nod to the detective roots of the Bat-Family.

Wonder Woman #22
The Mouse Man makes his grand entrance and instantly bites off more than he can chew. Framed as a story Diana tells her daughter, this issue brings a bit of campy villain flair to the ongoing narrative. Don’t let the silliness fool you. There are some underlying consequences being set up here that could bite Diana later. It is fun, weird, and just offbeat enough to stand out.

Invincible Universe: Battle Beast #2
Battle Beast doesn’t pull punches and this issue is pure chaos. Dropped into the Blood Games, a brutal gladiator-style trial, Battle Beast cuts through enemies with the same savage intensity we’ve come to expect. If you’re a fan of Invincible, this solo spotlight delivers all the hyper violence and intensity wrapped around a character with a code if not a conscience.

Batman / Superman: World’s Finest #40
Superheroes on a talk show. Not by choice. Bruce and Clark are caught in a bizarre trap that is as much about their civilian lives as it is about saving the day. This issue leans hard into meta humor and alternate storytelling devices, giving their supporting cast a chance to shine. It is a fun detour that still feels like a solid World’s Finest entry. Clever, creative, and just the right kind of weird.
These are just a few of the standout books hitting the stands today. Each one offers a totally different flavor of storytelling, whether you’re into cosmic lore, gritty street level action, or unpredictable sci fi chaos.
