The long-awaited King of the Hill revival is finally stepping back into Arlen, Texas as time moves forward. Mike Judge and Greg Daniels’ adult animation classic is officially returning with a new season premiering August 4 on Hulu and Disney+. And yes, we now have our first glimpse at the revamped opening sequence.

Shared today on the official King of the Hill social media account, the new intro plays out as a time lapse, aging up its beloved characters over the years. It ends with a return to Arlen and the familiar alleyway that fans have come to associate with the show’s Texas charm. Notably, the sequence also hints at storylines involving an adult Bobby Hill and Dale Gribble’s unexpected turn as a local politician.

According to the official synopsis, Hank and Peggy Hill return to Arlen after years spent working abroad in Saudi Arabia, where Hank landed a propane job that helped them secure their retirement. Now, they are back in their old neighborhood to reconnect with Dale, Boomhauer, and Bill. Meanwhile, Bobby is off chasing his dream as a chef in Dallas, joined by returning characters Connie, Joseph, and Chane.

The revival picks up after a significant time jump from the original series finale in 2010, with Hulu confirming it as Season 14. Despite the time skip, the revival reunites most of the original cast, including Mike Judge as Hank, Kathy Najimy as Peggy, Pamela Adlon as Bobby, and Stephen Root as Bill. The late Johnny Hardwick also returns as Dale Gribble, having recorded material before his passing in 2023.

Though details remain light about the season’s broader themes, the updated opening credits already promise a show that is not stuck in the past but still firmly rooted in its heartfelt satire and quiet comedy. If the intro is any indication, King of the Hill is aging gracefully, just like its fans.
