After more than 20 years apart, Marvel and DC are finally teaming up again, and they’re bringing out the big guns and the batarangs.
This fall, fans will see the Merc with a Mouth collide with the Dark Knight in not one but two crossover one-shots. Marvel is releasing Deadpool/Batman #1 in September, written by Amazing Spider-Man’s Zeb Wells with art from longtime Batman artist Greg Capullo. Two months later, DC follows with Batman/Deadpool #1, written by Grant Morrison and drawn by World’s Finest artist Dan Mora.
Each comic will feature a main story and “backup adventures” that spotlight additional Marvel and DC character pairings. Details on those backups are still under wraps.

A Rare Collaboration
This is the first official Marvel and DC crossover since 2003’s JLA/Avengers. According to DC President and Publisher Jim Lee, timing and coordination are key to making these rare events happen.
“It happens kind of once every generation of readers. The timing has to be right. You want them to feel special,” Lee told Entertainment Weekly. “There’s a lot more collaboration and approvals involved, and obviously, you’re sharing revenue. So the story has to warrant the hype.”
Batman Meets Chaos
Marvel Entertainment President Dan Buckley explained that choosing Batman and Deadpool was about creating unexpected fun.
“It just felt like a fun combo. Nothing more complicated than that. Deadpool hanging out with Batman just opens up a lot of possibilities,” said Buckley. “We want to showcase comics, generate excitement, and bring new or lapsed readers back.”
Batman’s brooding precision and Deadpool’s chaotic energy create a unique contrast that is sure to draw attention from both loyal readers and curious newcomers.
What’s Next
Deadpool/Batman #1 launches September 17, 2025. Batman/Deadpool #1 follows in November. Both issues are being treated as events, with top-tier creative talent and a clear goal of re-energizing interest in superhero comics.
Entertainment Weekly also reports that Marvel and DC are already working on another pair of crossover specials for 2026, though the characters have yet to be revealed.
After two decades, this collaboration feels long overdue. If these new issues land with fans, the door may be open for even more Marvel and DC team-ups.
