SPOILERS
Funko may have just spoiled one of The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ biggest secrets.
On Friday, Funko unveiled a new wave of Pop! figures tied to the upcoming Marvel Studios film and in doing so confirmed that Franklin Richards, the son of Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic) and Sue Storm (Invisible Woman), will appear in the movie. While the trailer hinted at Sue’s pregnancy, this marks the first real confirmation that their child, already a toddler, will be part of the story.

The figure shows Sue holding young Franklin, implying that the film will cover a broad timespan from the announcement of her pregnancy to Franklin’s early childhood. That is a big leap for a film that already promises to explore Marvel’s First Family in a new cinematic light.
In Marvel Comics, Franklin Richards is not just a supporting character. He is one of the most powerful mutants in the entire Marvel Universe. Born from parents irradiated by cosmic rays, Franklin’s abilities stretch far beyond the norm. He has displayed telepathy, telekinesis, matter manipulation, and even the ability to bend reality and create entire universes. At times, he has rivaled cosmic entities like Galactus, who is also featured in this Funko wave.

If First Steps embraces even a fraction of his comic book potential, Franklin could redefine the scope of Marvel’s cinematic multiverse. That would signal a major shift in power dynamics within the MCU, especially with multiversal threats and mutant stories ramping up in Phase 6.
While fans were already buzzing from the trailer, which leaned into the family’s origin story and classic space exploration themes, the inclusion of Franklin deepens the stakes. It suggests that Marvel may be planting seeds now for major cosmic storylines in the future, possibly even Future Foundation or Power Pack arcs.
Marvel has not officially commented on Franklin’s inclusion in the film, but this Funko release makes it clear. He is coming, and with him comes a wave of possibilities.
