The multiverse just got a little darker. Prime Video and MGM+ have officially unveiled the first look at Nicolas Cage as Spider-Noir during Amazon’s annual upfront presentation. Set in a gritty 1930s New York, this live-action series reimagines the Spider-Man mythos through a noir detective lens, and Cage’s haunting presence in the iconic trench coat and fedora sets the tone immediately.
The show, simply titled Spider-Noir, is slated for release in 2026 and pulls directly from the Marvel comic Spider-Man Noir. But unlike the wisecracking animated version Cage voiced in Into the Spider-Verse, this iteration brings a brooding, battle-worn hero back into the spotlight. The series follows an aging private investigator who must confront the shadows of his former life as New York’s only masked protector.
Joining Cage is a stacked cast that includes Lamorne Morris, Brendan Gleeson, Abraham Popoola, Li Jun Li, Karen Rodriguez, and Jack Huston. The supporting cast is rounded out by guest stars such as Lukas Haas, Cameron Britton, Amy Aquino, and Kai Caster, giving the series a robust ensemble poised for complex storytelling.
Behind the camera, the series is in experienced hands. Harry Bradbeer (Fleabag, Enola Holmes) directs the first two episodes and serves as executive producer. The series is co-run by Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot, with creative contributions from Spider-Verse architects Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal. With this much talent involved, Spider-Noir aims to be more than a stylized spinoff—it could be a defining moment in the growing Spider-Verse.
Whether Cage’s noir vigilante leans into hardboiled mystery, supernatural threats, or character-driven drama, one thing is clear: the era of multiversal Spider-Men is still just warming up.
