Elizabeth Olsen, known for her portrayal of Wanda Maximoff in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), has confirmed she will not appear in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars films, despite ongoing fan speculation surrounding the return of the Scarlet Witch.

The actress revealed in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter that she will not be heading to London for either of the next two Avengers installments. Both films are set to shoot back-to-back in the U.K., with Doomsday releasing in 2026 and Secret Wars following in 2027. Olsen’s absence comes as she shifts her focus to other creative pursuits, including an FX drama pilot titled Seven Sisters.

Her decision follows a long-running swirl of rumors about Wanda’s potential return. After Scarlet Witch’s apparent death in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022), fans anticipated a dramatic resurrection—especially with Agatha All Along premiering earlier this year. Despite subtle references to Wanda’s legacy in the Disney+ series, her return never materialized, leaving audiences questioning what comes next.

Olsen previously expressed openness to reprising the role under the right circumstances, stating she would be interested “if there’s a good way to use her.” However, her latest comments suggest that moment isn’t arriving any time soon.

The uncertainty has fueled online debate about potential misdirection. The MCU is no stranger to actors denying involvement in projects only to make surprise appearances later. Still, Olsen’s clarity on skipping London—where the Russo brothers will helm the productions—makes a Scarlet Witch cameo unlikely at this stage.

Meanwhile, the MCU continues to evolve. With Robert Downey Jr. returning as Doctor Doom and Benedict Cumberbatch confirmed for Secret Wars, Marvel is setting the stage for a climactic Phase 6. Sam Wilson’s Captain America, Shang-Chi, and Wong are among the next wave of heroes likely to lead Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios President, remains tight-lipped but optimistic. “There have been a lot of questions about Wanda… We’re excited to find out when and how the Scarlet Witch might return,” he teased earlier this month.

Whether Olsen truly sits out both Avengers entries or makes a last-minute appearance, her impact on the MCU remains undeniable. Scarlet Witch’s arc—from Sokovia to the Multiverse—helped shape Marvel’s post-Endgame narrative. But for now, the saga continues without her.
