This morning, Netflix unveiled the teaser trailer for “Happy Gilmore 2,” marking Adam Sandler’s return as the unconventional golfer nearly three decades after the original 1996 comedy. The film is scheduled to premiere on July 25, 2025. The trailer showcases Sandler reprising his role as Happy Gilmore, alongside returning cast members Julie Bowen as Virginia Venit and Christopher McDonald as the ever-antagonistic Shooter McGavin. New additions to the star-studded lineup include Ben Stiller, Bad Bunny, NFL star Travis Kelce, and professional golfers Rory McIlroy and Justin Thomas, among others.

Directed by Kyle Newacheck and co-written by Sandler and Tim Herlihy, the sequel hints at Happy’s return to the golf course after a prolonged hiatus. The teaser features a mix of comedic moments and nostalgic callbacks, including a scene where Happy critiques a bust of himself placed alongside golfing legends. The film also pays homage to Sandler’s broader cinematic universe, with Blake Clark, known for his role as Farmer Fran in “The Waterboy,” making an appearance. Fans have eagerly awaited this sequel, especially after Christopher McDonald revealed in March 2024 that Sandler was working on the script. With its blend of original characters and fresh faces, “Happy Gilmore 2” aims to deliver the humor and heart that made the first film a cult classic
