SPOILERS AHEAD

The first two episodes of “Daredevil: Born Again” premiered on March 4, 2025, on Disney+. The series picks up several years after the original “Daredevil” series, with Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) having retired his vigilante persona. However, the emergence of new threats, including Wilson Fisk’s (Vincent D’Onofrio) political ambitions, compels Murdock to confront his past and the complexities of his dual identity.

The opening episode delivers a shocking twist with the death of Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson), Murdock’s close friend and law partner, at the hands of Bullseye (Wilson Bethel). This event profoundly impacts Murdock, leading him to question his moral boundaries and ultimately retire his Daredevil persona.

In the second episode, Murdock represents Hector Ayala (Kamar de los Reyes), who is wrongfully accused of killing a police officer. Ayala is revealed to be the vigilante White Tiger, highlighting the ongoing need for heroes in a crime-ridden New York City. This episode also pays tribute to de los Reyes, who tragically passed away from cancer in December 2023.

Critics have praised the series for its dark, complex narrative and intense action sequences. Den of Geek describes the premiere episodes as “dark, complex, and fascinating,” noting that the series sets a darker tone for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Early reactions highlight the show’s ability to blend the grit of the original series with the flair of the MCU, delivering bone-crunching action alongside deep character development.

Overall, “Daredevil: Born Again” has been lauded as a worthy successor to the original series, elevating the standard for Marvel Studios’ productions.
