Marvel Studios’ Vice President of Production & Development, Nate Moore, has officially dismissed circulating rumors about recasting the role of T’Challa in the upcoming “Black Panther 3.” In a recent interview, Moore clarified that the studio has not engaged in any discussions about replacing the late Chadwick Boseman, who originally portrayed the iconic character.

“The truth is, there’s no truth to those rumors,” Moore stated. “Never say never to anything; we haven’t really had a lot of creative conversations with Ryan Coogler yet, because he’s finishing his film ‘Sinners,’ which comes out this year. We’ll get into it later this year, but everything you read online is not true, if for no other reason than we just haven’t started.”

This clarification comes amid speculation fueled by actor Denzel Washington’s recent revelation that he has been cast in the third installment of the “Black Panther” series. In November 2024, Washington mentioned that Coogler is writing a part for him in the next film.

Chadwick Boseman first brought T’Challa to life in 2016’s “Captain America: Civil War,” and continued to portray the character in subsequent films, including the groundbreaking “Black Panther” in 2018. Following Boseman’s untimely passing in August 2020 due to colon cancer, Marvel Studios announced that they would not recast the role, choosing instead to honor his legacy.

As of now, Marvel Studios has not officially announced a release date for “Black Panther 3.” Fans eagerly await further updates on the film’s development and the direction the franchise will take in the absence of its original lead.
