The Fantastic Four are set to make their debut in Marvel Rivals, developer NetEase confirmed this week. A newly released image shows the beloved superhero family—Mister Fantastic, the Invisible Woman, the Human Torch, and the Thing—joined by the robot H.E.R.B.I.E. in the Fantasticar, with the Baxter Building looming in the background.

NetEase also announced via social media that a trailer unveiling the Fantastic Four is scheduled for Jan. 6 at 8 a.m. PST. Fans are already speculating about H.E.R.B.I.E.’s role, wondering whether the classic companion might join the playable roster alongside Marvel’s First Family. The reveal is expected to clarify this and more.

Eagle-eyed observers noted bat-like figures flying across a sky illuminated by a blood-red moon in the teaser image, prompting some to wonder if this is a hint at the arrival of Blade or other supernatural elements in Season 2.

Marvel Rivals has proven a significant success for NetEase, boasting 10 million players within three days of launch and surpassing 20 million after two weeks. The free-to-play, team-based PvP shooter became available Dec. 6 on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Player counts on Steam alone peaked at 480,990 concurrent users during launch weekend, placing the title among the platform’s top five most-played games at that time.

Season 0 is ongoing, with Season 1 set to begin Jan. 9, according to the in-game battle pass countdown. It is widely believed that the Fantastic Four will become available alongside Season 1’s release.
