WWE superstar Becky Lynch is officially part of the cast of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy on Paramount Plus, Lynch announced via social media on December 12th.

“You know when you’ve already been champion of the world, there’s only one place to go next, and that’s to the stars,” Lynch said in a video on X. “I’m so excited to share with all of you that I’m joining Star Trek: Starfleet Academy as part of the bridge crew. This has been the most amazing experience, acting alongside just a spectacular cast and crew, and I cannot wait for all of you to check it out when it comes out on Paramount Plus.” She concluded with a Vulcan salute, saying, “Live long and prosper.”

Lynch, who has been on a hiatus from WWE for more than 200 days, is one of the most decorated women’s wrestlers in history. Her acting credits include roles in Showtime’s Billions and NBC’s Young Rock.

The Starfleet Academy series, set to follow a new class of Starfleet cadets, features Kerrice Brooks, Bella Shepard, George Hawkins, Sandro Rosta, Karim Diané, and Zoë Steiner. Holly Hunter will play the academy’s captain and chancellor, with Paul Giamatti cast as the season’s main villain. Additionally, Tig Notaro, Mary Wiseman, and Oded Fehr from Star Trek: Discovery, as well as Robert Picardo from Star Trek: Voyager, will reprise their roles. Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany will guest star.

The series has already been renewed for a second season, although no premiere date has been announced.

The show’s logline reveals that Starfleet Academy will chronicle “the adventures of a new class of Starfleet cadets as they come of age in one of the most legendary places in the galaxy. Under the watchful and demanding eyes of their instructors, they will discover what it takes to become Starfleet officers as they navigate blossoming friendships, explosive rivalries, first loves and a new enemy that threatens both the Academy and the Federation itself.”
