The Wizarding World is about to get a fresh dose of enchantment as HBO’s new Harry Potter TV series sets its sights on the UK. Fans can already picture those Hogwarts owls flying overhead, acceptance letters in tow, with cameras rolling at a legendary film studio known for bringing this universe to life. It’s official: the next generation of witches and wizards will be boarding the Hogwarts Express from Platform 9¾ in 2025.

Back to the Wizarding Roots
HBO confirmed that production on its Harry Potter TV adaptation will begin in summer 2025 at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, located just outside of London. This iconic studio served as the home base for all eight original Harry Potter films and the Fantastic Beasts series, making it the perfect spot for recreating J.K. Rowling’s magical world. Warner Bros. has big plans for the site, expanding it to 29 total stages by 2027, ensuring plenty of room for spellbinding sets and creatures.

A Hub of Geeky Greatness
Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden isn’t just about the Boy Who Lived. It’s also the production hub for major franchises like House of the Dragon and the centerpiece for future DC Studios projects. Plus, it’s where recent blockbusters like The Batman, Barbie, and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice have come to life. Talk about a one-stop shop for fans of geek culture!

A Faithful Adaptation & A Fresh Start
HBO promises a “faithful adaptation” of Rowling’s iconic books, complete with a brand-new cast to bring these beloved characters to a new generation of fans. While the classic films remain cherished and available for viewing, this fresh series aims to dive deeper into the stories, making room for young actors—aged 9-11 by April 2025—who are currently being cast in an open and inclusive audition call.

Top Talent Behind the Camera
Behind the scenes, some serious creative power is assembling. Two-time Emmy winner Francesca Gardiner (Succession, His Dark Materials) serves as showrunner, with Mark Mylod (Succession, Game of Thrones, The Last of Us) directing multiple episodes. Rowling herself will executive produce, ensuring the new series stays true to the heart of the Wizarding World.
