Disney has announced that Star Wars: Skeleton Crew will now premiere on Disney+ a day earlier than previously scheduled. The series will debut with a two-episode premiere on December 2, 2024, at 6 PM PT.

Skeleton Crew is described as a Star Wars take on The Goonies, featuring Jude Law as Force user Jod Na Nawood. The series is set in the same timeline as The Mandalorian, after the events of Return of the Jedi. Notably, the show includes deep cuts from the Star Wars universe, such as elements from the 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special and the appearance of Teeks from Ewoks: The Battle for Endor.

The eight-episode series boasts a diverse lineup of directors, each bringing their unique vision to the Star Wars universe. Here is the list of episodes along with their respective directors and notable previous works:

  1. Episode 1: Jon Watts
    • Notable Work: Directed the MCU’s Spider-Man trilogy, including Spider-Man: Homecoming.
  2. Episode 2: David Lowery
    • Notable Work: Directed The Green Knight and Pete’s Dragon.
  3. Episode 3: David Lowery
    • Notable Work: Directed A Ghost Story.
  4. Episode 4: The Daniels (Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert)
    • Notable Work: Directed the Academy Award-winning film Everything Everywhere All at Once.
  5. Episode 5: Jake Schreier
    • Notable Work: Directed episodes of Netflix’s Beef and the upcoming Marvel film Thunderbolts.
  6. Episode 6: Bryce Dallas Howard
    • Notable Work: Directed episodes of The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett.
  7. Episode 7: Lee Isaac Chung
    • Notable Work: Directed the Oscar-nominated film Minari and the upcoming Twisters.
  8. Episode 8: Jon Watts
    • Notable Work: Directed Cop Car and episodes of The Old Man.

The series is set to conclude on January 14, 2025.

In addition to Skeleton Crew, Disney has a robust lineup of upcoming Star Wars content:

  • Andor: Season 2 is scheduled to premiere on April 22, 2025.
  • Ahsoka: Season 2 is in development, with release details forthcoming.
  • A Mandalorian & Grogu movie, directed by Jon Favreau, is slated for release in 2026.
  • A new Star Wars trilogy, helmed by Simon Kinberg, is in the works. This trilogy is not a continuation of the Skywalker Saga but explores new narratives within the Star Wars universe.
  • A sequel to Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker, directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, will follow Rey as she endeavors to rebuild the Jedi Order approximately 15 years after the events of the film.

With Skeleton Crew and these forthcoming projects, Disney continues to expand the Star Wars universe, offering fans a diverse array of stories and characters to explore.
