Michelle Yeoh Returns in Star Trek: Section 31

Paramount+ unveiled a teaser trailer for Star Trek: Section 31, starring Academy Award-winner Michelle Yeoh as Emperor Philippa Georgiou. Yeoh, who first appeared in Star Trek: Discovery, reprises her role in this new original movie. The story follows Georgiou as she joins the covert Section 31 to protect the United Federation of Planets while confronting her tumultuous past. The movie features an impressive cast including Omari Hardwick, Kacey Rohl, Sam Richardson, Sven Ruygrok, Robert Kazinsky, Humberly Gonzalez, and James Hiroyuki Liao. Additionally, fans got a glimpse of a young Philippa Georgiou portrayed by Miku Martineau.

Star Trek Live-Action Comedy Announced

A new Star Trek live-action comedy is in the works, helmed by Justin Simien and Tawny Newsome. The show will focus on “Federation Outsiders” whose everyday exploits at a luxurious resort planet are broadcast to the entire quadrant. This unique twist promises to bring fresh humor to the Star Trek universe.

Starfleet Academy Welcomes Legacy Cast Members

Production for Star Trek: Starfleet Academy begins in August 2024, and Paramount+ revealed several legacy cast members joining the series. Tig Notaro returns as Jett Reno, alongside Robert Picardo reprising his iconic role as The Doctor from Star Trek: Voyager. Guest stars include Oded Fehr as Admiral Vance and Mary Wiseman as Sylvia Tilly. They join a stellar cast including Holly Hunter, Gina Yashere, and Paul Giamatti. The series will follow new Starfleet cadets navigating friendships, rivalries, and a new enemy threatening the Federation.

Strange New Worlds Season 3 Clip Reveals Vulcan Transformations

Fans of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds were treated to an extended clip from Season 3, set to premiere in 2025. The clip showed Captain Pike, Christine Chapel, La’an Noonien-Singh, Nyota Uhura, and Pelia transforming into Vulcans for a mission. The transformation, however, doesn’t work for Pelia. This intriguing twist sets the stage for more adventures as they deal with the serum’s side effects. Additionally, Dr. Roger Korby, originally played by Michael Strong in The Original Series, will appear as a guest star.

Lower Decks’ Final Season Trailer and Premiere Date

The animated series Star Trek: Lower Decks will conclude with its fifth season, premiering on October 24, 2024. Paramount+ released a new trailer and announced the two-episode premiere. The season will feature the crew of the U.S.S. Cerritos tackling “space potholes” while dealing with Orion wars, Klingon conflicts, and career aspirations. Episodes will air weekly until the finale on December 19, 2024.
