Screen Gems and PlayStation Productions have officially announced the first wave of cast members for the highly anticipated film adaptation of the popular video game “Until Dawn.” As reported by Deadline, the adaptation will feature a talented ensemble of rising stars, signaling a strong commitment to bringing the game’s chilling narrative to life on the big screen.
The cast includes Ella Rubin, known for her roles in “The Chair” and “The Girl from Plainville,” as well as Michael Cimino, who gained fame from “Love, Victor” and “Annabelle Comes Home.” Additionally, Ji-young Yoo from “The Expats” and Odessa A’zion, who appeared in “Sitting in Bars with Cake,” have also joined the film.

Asad Qizilbash, Head of PlayStation Productions, shared his enthusiasm with Deadline, stating, “At PlayStation Productions, we are always looking to find creative and authentic ways to adapt our beloved games that our fans will enjoy. Alongside Screen Gems, we’ve assembled a fantastic cast of new characters that builds upon our already stellar filmmaking team and their vision for the adaptation. We’re excited to reveal more about the movie soon.”
Sony Pictures first announced the development of the “Until Dawn” film back in January, with David F. Sandberg, known for his work on “Lights Out” and “Shazam!,” set to direct. Sandberg’s expertise in horror and suspense is expected to translate well into the eerie and atmospheric world of “Until Dawn.”
“Until Dawn,” originally released in 2015 for the PS4 by Supermassive Games, is set in a remote, snowy mountain where players control eight friends trying to survive the night after discovering they are not alone. The game became a cult hit for its narrative-driven, choose-your-own-adventure gameplay and has since been recognized as a defining title for Supermassive Games.
Despite not having a direct sequel, “Until Dawn” spawned two PSVR spinoff games and inspired the 2022 release of “The Quarry,” a spiritual successor. A remaster of “Until Dawn,” developed by UK studio Ballistic Moon, is also set to release this fall for PS5 and PC.
Fans of the original game and newcomers alike eagerly await more updates on the film adaptation, hoping it will capture the same suspense and horror that made “Until Dawn” a standout title.
