Cartoon Network Studios is set to expand the beloved Adventure Time universe with three new projects: a movie and two spin-off TV shows. This thrilling news was unveiled during Warner Bros. Animation’s Studio Focus presentation at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.
The Adventure Time Movie will see Finn and Jake embark on their greatest adventure yet. This movie is being crafted by Adventure Time veterans, including original showrunner Adam Muto, Patrick McHale (co-creator of Over the Garden Wall), and Rebecca Sugar (creator of Steven Universe). Fans can look forward to a cinematic experience that promises to capture the magic and heart of the original series.

In addition to the movie, Cartoon Network Studios has greenlit Adventure Time: Side Quests, an episodic children’s show that explores Finn’s childhood dreams of epic quests and monster battles. This series will feature early versions of beloved characters like The Ice King and will consist of standalone episodes. Nate Cash, a two-time Emmy-winning Adventure Time artist, is leading this project, ensuring a nostalgic yet fresh experience for fans.
The second spin-off, Adventure Time: Heyo BMO, is designed for a preschool audience. Starring the lovable sentient game console BMO, this series will follow BMO and friends as they navigate challenges suited for younger viewers. Adam Muto and former Adventure Time storyboard artist Ashlyn Anstee are attached to this project, promising a delightful and engaging show for kids.
Since its conclusion in 2018, Adventure Time has continued to captivate audiences with spin-offs like Fionna and Cake and specials such as Distant Lands Obsidian. These new projects mark a significant return to the core of the Adventure Time universe, offering fans both old and new exciting adventures to look forward to.
