The much-anticipated Xbox Games Showcase returned for summer 2024, delivering over an hour of thrilling reveals, gameplay footage, and new hardware announcements. Fans were treated to a slew of updates on upcoming games, surprise announcements, and a glimpse into the future of Xbox.

Doom: The Dark Ages The first major surprise of the showcase was the reveal of “Doom: The Dark Ages.” This new installment in the iconic franchise takes players back to a medieval-like era, blending dark fantasy with the brutal gameplay fans love. Scheduled for a 2025 release, it promises a fresh yet familiar experience for Doom enthusiasts.

Gears of War: E-Day Another highlight was the announcement of “Gears of War: E-Day.” This prequel to the original Gears of War series, developed by The Coalition, explores the story of the first Locust emergence on Sera. With stunning Unreal Engine 5 graphics and a narrative centered around Marcus Fenix, this game is set to captivate fans new and old.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 The next installment in the Call of Duty franchise, “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6,” was announced with a release date set for October 25th. Developed by Treyarch and Raven Software, this game is set in the early ‘90s and will launch day one on Xbox Game Pass. Players can look forward to a new campaign, a multiplayer mode featuring 16 new maps at launch, and an exciting new zombies experience. With its historical setting and robust content, “Black Ops 6” aims to deliver the intense action and immersive gameplay fans expect from the series.

Fable Fans finally received a release window for the highly anticipated “Fable,” set to launch in 2025. The new gameplay footage showcased rich characters and a compelling story, centering on a hero named Humphry who must confront a mysterious figure from his past to save Albion.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Scheduled for a November 19th release, “Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024” promises an array of new features, including hot air balloon trips, aerial firefighting, and VIP chartered services. The latest trailer highlighted the game’s expansive and immersive world.

Perfect Dark Reboot The first gameplay of the new “Perfect Dark” game was unveiled, showcasing Joanna Dark in a near-future Cairo setting. This reboot, developed by The Initiative and Crystal Dynamics, promises to reinvent the classic with a new story and universe.

In addition to the exciting game announcements, Microsoft revealed two new Xbox Series X models:

  • A disc-less white Xbox Series X, priced at $449.99, set to launch later this year.
  • A special edition 2TB Galaxy Black Xbox Series X, expanding storage options for gamers.
