The third installment in the acclaimed Knives Out series has officially been announced. Director Rian Johnson has revealed the title of the upcoming murder mystery as “Wake Up Dead Man.” The film, featuring the return of former James Bond actor Daniel Craig as detective Benoit Blanc, will be released on Netflix.
In a brief teaser, Johnson unveiled the film’s title and confirmed Craig’s return. The teaser features Daniel Craig in character, saying: “In the beginning, the knives came out. Then, behold, the glass was shattered. But my most dangerous case yet is about to be revealed.”
The original Knives Out, released in 2019, was a smash hit, followed by the sequel, Glass Onion, in 2022. “Wake Up Dead Man” is part of Johnson’s two-sequel deal with Netflix, reportedly worth $450 million.
Johnson further elaborated on his excitement for the project in a follow-up tweet: “I love everything about whodunnits, but one of the things I love most is how malleable the genre is. There’s a whole tonal spectrum from Carr to Christie, and getting to explore that range is one of the most exciting things about making Benoit Blanc movies. We’re about to go into production on the third one, and I’m very, very excited to share the title, which gives a little hint of where it’s going.”
Stay tuned for more updates on “Wake Up Dead Man” as the production progresses.
