Marvel Studios has officially announced a new Vision series for Disney+, with Paul Bettany reprising his role as the titular character and Terry Matalas, known for his work on Star Trek: Picard, as the showrunner. Set to debut in 2026, this series will explore new storylines following the events of WandaVision.

As reported by Variety, this new, yet-to-be-titled Vision series is significant as it marks the first live-action Marvel show in nearly two years. Fans are hopeful it will address many of the unanswered questions left by WandaVision. Disney has yet to respond to requests for further comments from outlets such as IGN.
Spoilers for Avengers: Infinity War and WandaVision
For those unfamiliar with the character’s recent history, Vision was killed by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. However, he returned in WandaVision as a magical construct created by Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff. This Vision wasn’t resurrected but was a part of Wanda’s magic.
The plot thickened when S.W.O.R.D. reassembled Vision’s original body using Chaos Magic, creating “White Vision.” This version initially had no memories but regained them with the help of Wanda’s Vision before flying off, leaving his fate open-ended.
About Terry Matalas
Terry Matalas has an impressive resume, having started his career with Star Trek: Voyager and Star Trek: Enterprise. He climbed the ranks to become the co-showrunner for Season 2 of Star Trek: Picard and the sole showrunner for its third and final season. Matalas also co-created and ran the show 12 Monkeys.

The Evolution of Vision Quest
Talks of a Vision series, tentatively titled Vision Quest, have been circulating for some time. WandaVision creator Jac Schaeffer was initially set to lead the series but shifted her focus to another WandaVision spin-off, Agatha All Along, which will debut on Disney+ on September 18, 2024.
Future Marvel Cinematic Universe Releases
While fans await the new Vision series, there’s plenty of Marvel content on the horizon. Notably, Deadpool & Wolverine is set to hit theaters on July 26, 2024, bringing Hugh Jackman back as Wolverine. Other upcoming projects include Agatha All Along, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, and Captain America: Brave New World.
Marvel’s new Vision series is a highly anticipated addition to the MCU, promising to delve deeper into the character’s story. With Terry Matalas at the helm and Paul Bettany returning, fans have much to look forward to in 2026.
