Activision and Microsoft have announced the return of Call of Duty to the Black Ops series with the upcoming release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. The announcement came just one day after the launch of a teaser site, thetruthlies.com, which hinted at the upcoming reveal.

The official unveiling of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is scheduled for June 9, immediately following the Xbox Game Showcase. Activision has promised a “full reveal,” sparking excitement and speculation among fans about what new elements and settings will be introduced in the latest installment of this iconic series.

Current expectations suggest that Black Ops 6 will transition from the 1980s setting of Black Ops: Cold War to the Gulf War of 1990-91. However, the teaser site remains cryptic, offering no clear details. A recent video on the site features a faux-“breaking news” clip showing monuments in the US, UK, and Germany defaced with “truth-and-lies” graffiti, all marked with an orange Cerberus logo. While the logo hasn’t been officially named, it has become a focal point of fan discussions and theories.

The approach Activision has taken, providing hints and clues while keeping much under wraps, has generated significant buzz. The fictionalized homefront theme has fans eager to learn more and speculate on the direction the game will take.

The Xbox Game Showcase, where the reveal will take place, begins at 10 am PT/1 pm ET/6 pm BST on June 9. The event will be available for viewing on platforms including YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook. This year’s showcase is particularly notable as it will be the first to feature games from Activision and Blizzard, along with other Xbox Game Studios. The Black Ops 6 Direct stream will follow immediately after the showcase.
