Warner Bros. Discovery has unveiled the debut trailer for the highly anticipated TV show Dune: Prophecy, set to premiere on Max this fall. The six-episode season dives deep into the origins of the Bene Gesserit, the enigmatic sisterhood pivotal to Frank Herbert’s legendary sci-fi universe.

Set 10,000 years before Paul Atreides’ rise, Dune: Prophecy explores the tumultuous era that led to the founding of the Bene Gesserit. The series is inspired by the novel ‘Sisterhood of Dune’ by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. It follows two Harkonnen sisters as they battle existential threats to humanity and lay the groundwork for the secretive order known for its profound influence and intricate machinations within the galactic empire.

The series boasts a star-studded cast, including Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May, Mark Strong, and Sarah-Sofie Boussnina. Other notable cast members include Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea, Jade Anouka, Faoileann Cunningham, Edward Davis, Aoife Hinds, Chris Mason, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Jihae, Tabu, Charithra Chandran, Jessica Barden, Emma Canning, and Yerin Ha.

Behind the scenes, Alison Schapker serves as showrunner and executive producer, with Anna Foerster directing multiple episodes, including the first, and also serving as an executive producer. The series benefits from the direct involvement of Brian Herbert as an executive producer, alongside Byron Merritt and Kim Herbert from the Frank Herbert estate, with Kevin J. Anderson as a co-producer.

The release of Dune: Prophecy follows the success of Denis Villeneuve’s two-part Dune movies, with Dune: Part 2 having premiered to critical acclaim and strong box office performance earlier this year. Villeneuve is currently working on Dune: Part 3 to conclude Paul Atreides’ epic saga. For fans eager to revisit Arrakis, Dune: Part 2 will be available for streaming on Max starting Tuesday, May 21.
