Acclaimed actress Michelle Yeoh, fresh off her historic Oscar win for ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’, is set to star in the highly anticipated ‘Blade Runner 2099’, a new limited series by Prime Video. Details of Yeoh’s role are currently under wraps, as is the plot of the series, which continues the storied ‘Blade Runner’ franchise, initiated by Ridley Scott’s 1982 cinematic masterpiece and extended by Denis Villeneuve’s 2017 sequel ‘Blade Runner 2049’.
Production of ‘Blade Runner 2099’ is set to commence in Prague after a significant delay caused by the dual strike of 2023. Originally planned to be shot in Belfast, the series faced logistical shifts due to the strikes, moving its location to the Czech Republic. The series will be led by showrunner Silka Luisa and includes an ensemble of executive producers such as Ridley Scott and Alcon Entertainment co-founders Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson.
Michelle Yeoh’s recent accolades include receiving the Presidential Medal of Freedom and her role in various projects such as ‘The Witcher: Blood Origin’ and ‘A Haunting in Venice’. Her upcoming roles include appearances in Jon M. Chu’s ‘Wicked’ and the ‘Avatar’ sequels.
