Apple TV+ is set to deepen its exploration of space with the renewal of its critically acclaimed drama “For All Mankind” for a fifth season and the introduction of a new spinoff series, “Star City.” Created by Ronald D. Moore, Matt Wolpert, and Ben Nedivi, the new series aims to explore the Soviet side of the space race, adding a thrilling new dimension to the alternate history universe established by its predecessor.
Apple TV+ continues to captivate audiences with its bold storytelling and high production values. With the announcement of “For All Mankind” returning for a fifth season and the new series “Star City” getting the green light, fans of space drama have much to look forward to.
“For All Mankind,” which jumps forward eight years in its upcoming fourth season, will continue to expand its narrative from its Mars base, “Happy Valley.” The series will delve into the mining of mineral-rich asteroids, a venture that promises to significantly affect both Earth and Mars. However, the tension among the residents of the now-expanded international base could threaten their lofty ambitions.
“Star City” promises to be a “propulsive paranoid thriller” that will take viewers to the Soviet Union’s secretive efforts during the space race. Set in a clandestine city near Moscow, the series will depict the lives of cosmonauts, engineers, and intelligence officers who risked everything to achieve space supremacy. This fresh perspective on the space race aims to explore the Soviet Union’s triumphs and challenges as it became the first nation to put a man on the moon.

Creators Ronald D. Moore, Matt Wolpert, and Ben Nedivi, along with executive producers including Maril Davis of Tall Ship Productions, are excited to further expand the series’ universe, which has been gaining intrigue with each season.
Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+, expressed enthusiasm for the new developments: “With each new season, ‘For All Mankind’ continues to build out a fascinating world and capture global audiences through high-quality storytelling developed by Ron, Matt, and Ben.”
Both series are produced by Sony Pictures Television for Apple TV+. As “For All Mankind” readies for its new season and “Star City” begins production, viewers can expect more gripping narratives from this expanding sci-fi saga.
