Warner Bros’ platform fighter, MultiVersus, is set to make a grand re-entry on May 28, after an initial open beta phase in July 2022 which saw an impressive start with 20 million players in the first month. Despite facing a decline in player base due to lack of updates, the game, inspired by Super Smash Bros., promises a unique experience with characters from WB’s extensive portfolio, including DC Comics and HBO.
Anticipation builds as the game undergoes significant enhancements for its full release, including the transition to Unreal Engine 5 for improved visuals and the introduction of new characters, stages, and a player versus environment mode. This comeback aligns with Warner Bros. Discovery’s strategy to prioritize live-service and free-to-play games, despite mixed outcomes from previous titles such as Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and the success of Hogwarts Legacy.
