Marvel Studios has announced a significant cast change for their upcoming blockbuster, ‘Thunderbolts.’ Geraldine Viswanathan is set to replace Ayo Edebiri, who had to depart due to scheduling conflicts arising from the dual Writers Guild of America (WGA) and Screen Actors Guild‐American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG AFTRA) strikes last year.
A New Addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe
Viswanathan’s addition follows the recent casting of Lewis Pullman, who stepped in for Steven Yeun for similar reasons. The ensemble, revealed at Disney’s D23 event, includes renowned names such as Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Wyatt Russell, Hannah John-Kamen, and Olga Kurylenko.

Jake Schreier is on board as the director, with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige producing the film. Scheduled for release in July 2025, ‘Thunderbolts’ plot remains under wraps, but it’s known to revolve around a group of villains on government-commissioned missions.
Rising Star Geraldine Viswanathan
Since her breakout in ‘Blockers,’ Viswanathan has been a standout in the industry. Her 2023 engagements included ‘Miracle Workers’ on TBS, the Sundance film ‘Cat Person,’ and ‘Beanie Bubble’ by Apple. She’s also set to star in Ethan Coen’s ‘Drive Away Dolls’ alongside Margaret Qualley and the Amazon comedy ‘You’re Cordially Invited’ with Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon.
