Actor John Boyega takes on the lead role in the upcoming television series adaptation of the 2010 post-apocalyptic film ‘The Book of Eli’.

John Boyega, known for his role in the Star Wars franchise, is set to headline and executive produce the TV series prequel to the 2010 film The Book of Eli. This new project is poised to dive into the backstory of the character originally portrayed by Denzel Washington.

A Return to the Post-Apocalyptic World

The original film, set 30 years after a nuclear catastrophe, followed Eli (played by Denzel Washington) as he navigated a devastated America to protect a sacred book. The TV series, with Boyega portraying a younger Eli, is being developed by Gary Whitta, the writer of the original movie, and executive produced by the Hughes brothers, who directed the film. Alcon Entertainment, the producer of the film, is also on board for this TV adaptation.
