The Game of Thrones saga, propelled by the recent triumph of House of the Dragon, continues to captivate audiences worldwide. HBO is set to broaden the beloved universe with its latest planned spinoff, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight. Based on a report from The Wrap, and remarks from HBO’s Casey Bloys, the series is gearing up for production in 2024.

What’s The Hedge Knight About?
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight delves into the “Tales of Dunk and Egg” series, set about a century before the original Game of Thrones. This upcoming series, inspired by three novellas including “The Hedge Knight” (1998), “The Sworn Sword” (2003), and “The Mystery Knight” (2010), offers fans a fresh and intimate perspective on the realm of Westeros.
Behind the Scenes: The Making of The Hedge Knight
Initially expected to start filming in spring 2023, the production faced delays. Bloys clarifies that casting and scripting are still in progress. “There’s a difference between something in development and something ready to shoot,” he stated.
HBO Drama Chief Francesca Orsi shed light on the series’ production approach. With less reliance on VFX, given the absence of dragons, the series promises a quicker turnaround compared to House of the Dragon. Orsi also mentioned plans for a three-season arc corresponding to the three novellas.

What’s Next for House of the Dragon?
Fans of House of the Dragon can anticipate an eight-episode second season, following a successful ten-episode debut. Showrunner Ryan Condal teased the upcoming season, hinting at a continuation of the intricate and tragic narrative inherent to the Game of Thrones universe.
