In a turn of events that keeps Hollywood buzzing, Tom Cruise, fresh off his non-exclusive deal with Warner Bros, is not slowing down at Paramount. The latest scoop is that ‘Top Gun 3’ is now in development at Paramount, with ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ co-writer Ehren Kruger penning a new draft.
The Maverick Continues
With the astounding success of ‘Top Gun: Maverick’, the word around Tinseltown is that Tom Cruise will reunite with co-stars Miles Teller and Glen Powell. Producers Jerry Bruckheimer and David Ellison are also expected to return, while Joe Kosinski is in talks to either direct or produce.
Busy Schedule for Cruise
Amidst the development of ‘Top Gun 3’, Cruise is currently on set for ‘Mission: Impossible 8’ under the Paramount banner. Adding to his packed agenda, Cruise is involved in an ambitious outer space movie project with Nasa, directed by Doug Liman, brewing over at Universal.
Puck broke the news about ‘Top Gun 3’ and speculates that it could be Cruise’s next big project post ‘Mission: Impossible 8’. However, his commitments may make it challenging to start any major projects at Warner Bros for a few years.
Record-Breaking Success
‘Top Gun: Maverick’ has been a monumental success, grossing $1.49 billion and becoming the highest-grossing movie of Cruise’s career. The film won an Oscar for Best Sound and received six Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture.
