Warner Bros, Vertigo, and Legendary are gearing up for the production of their latest feature film based on the Mojang/Microsoft video game phenomenon, Minecraft. The movie, starring Jason Momoa, has just added a new star to its cast: Jack Black.
Minecraft: The Blockbuster Vision
Although the plot details of the Minecraft movie are currently under wraps, we have confirmed that Jack Black will be portraying the character of Steve. The cast also includes notable actors such as Emma Myers, Jason Mamoa, Danielle Brooks, and Sebastian Eugene Hansen.


Minecraft, a sandbox game developed by Mojang, has achieved incredible success, becoming the best-selling video game of all time. It boasts over 300 million copies sold and nearly 140 million monthly active players.
Production and Crew
The film is a collaboration between Vertigo, Legendary, Mojang/Microsoft, and Jason Momoa’s On the Roam. The production team includes Roy Lee, Jon Berg, Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Momoa, Torfi Frans Olafsson, Vu Bui, and the late Jill Messick, with executive producers Todd Hallowell, Kayleen Walters, Brian Mendoza, and Jonathan Spaihts.
Jack Black’s Recent Achievements
Jack Black, known for his dynamic and versatile acting, recently voiced the villainous Bowser in the highly successful “The Super Mario Bros Movie.” He has also been recognized for his musical talents, receiving his third Golden Globe nomination for co-writing the film’s love ballad “Peaches.”
His voice acting in “Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight” earned him an Emmy for Outstanding Voice Performance in a Children’s or Young Teen Program. Fans can look forward to seeing him reprise his role as Po in the upcoming “Kung Fu Panda 4.”
