The Game Awards 2023 were a spectacle of exciting announcements, showcasing the future of gaming with several high-profile reveals. Among these, the top five announcements were particularly notable:

Blade

Arkane Lyon, creators of “Deathloop,” have unveiled a new Blade-focused video game. Set in Paris, this mature, single-player, third-person title is in the early stages of development by Marvel Studios. The storyline involves a vampire-infested, quarantined Paris. This game marks Arkane’s second vampire-centric project, coinciding with Blade’s integration into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including a standalone film releasing on November 7, 2025.

God of War Ragnarok Valhalla

“God of War Ragnarok” will release a free DLC called “Valhalla” on December 12, introducing a roguelike mode. Revealed at The Game Awards 2023, this expansion adds new enemies and gameplay and is available for PlayStation 4 and 5. The DLC appears to continue the narrative after “God of War Ragnarok,” blending familiar combat with new roguelike elements.

Exodus

Archetype Entertainment announced its new sci-fi RPG “Exodus” at The Game Awards, with development starting in 2020 under Wizards of the Coast. Matthew McConaughey revealed his role as a voice actor in the game. “Exodus” focuses on the long-term impact of player choices, featuring time dilation and a universe-traveling narrative. The game, developed by former BioWare veterans, is a next-gen, story-driven RPG likened to a larger-scale “Mass Effect”.

Light No Fire

Hello Games, creators of “No Man’s Sky,” announced their new game “Light No Fire” at The Game Awards. It’s a fantasy planet-based adventure game focusing on building, survival, and exploration. The game, visually similar to “No Man’s Sky” but with classic fantasy elements, has no confirmed release date or platforms yet. “No Man’s Sky” has seen significant improvements since its initial launch, and “Light No Fire” is expected to reflect the studio’s growth in game development.

Jurassic Park: Survival

“Jurassic Park: Survival,” a previously canceled early 2000s game, is being revived by Saber Interactive with a new concept. Originally developed by Savage Entertainment and based on “Jurassic Park 3,” the initial version was scrapped due to development issues. The new game, also an action-adventure with stealth and action gameplay, is set on Isla Nublar following the events of the original “Jurassic Park.” It features a new protagonist, Dr. Maya Joshi, and is planned for release on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, though the release date is unknown.

These announcements represent significant developments in the gaming world, offering a mix of new adventures and expansions to beloved franchises. Each game brings its unique flavor and is sure to cater to a wide range of gaming preferences.
