In a recent update, Warner Bros. dispelled rumors suggesting that the upcoming Wonder Woman game from Monolith Productions would feature live service elements. Fans concerned about the game’s direction can now rest assured.

Rumors Debunked

Speculation about the game incorporating live service features arose following a job listing that required experience with “a live software product or game.” Warner Bros. CEO David Zaslav’s comments about live service games added fuel to these rumors. However, Warner Bros. has now clarified that the Wonder Woman game will not follow this path.

Official Statement

In a statement to IGN, a Warner Bros. spokesperson described the game as a “single-player action-adventure set in a dynamic open-world.” The game will allow players to explore the DC Universe as Diana of Themyscira, featuring an original story and the Nemesis System. The spokesperson emphasized that the game is “not being designed as a live service.”

About the Game

First announced in 2021, the Wonder Woman game is being developed by Monolith, known for their work on Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor. It will introduce an original story, allowing players to progress from a heroic fighter to a proven leader. Despite these clarifications, no release date has been announced yet.

Warner Bros.’ Broader Strategy

Despite the clarification about the Wonder Woman game, Warner Bros. continues to focus on live service goals. CEO Zaslav mentioned transforming major franchises to include “always on gameplay” through live services, multiplatform, and free-to-play extensions.
