In the wake of the SAG-AFTRA strike’s conclusion, Disney announced major shifts in Marvel Studios’ release calendar. The much-awaited “Deadpool 3” is now set for a July 26, 2024 debut, pushed from its initial May 3 slot. Meanwhile, “Captain America: Brave New World” moves from July 26, 2024, to a Valentine’s Day release in 2025. “Blade,” facing its own production challenges, is rescheduled from February 14, 2025, to November 7 of the same year. Lastly, the yet-to-start “Thunderbolts” shifts from December 20, 2024, to July 25, 2025.

This reshuffle leaves 2024 with only “Deadpool 3” from Marvel Studios. Despite completing production, “Captain America: Brave New World” faces a lengthy wait. “Thunderbolts” and “Blade” are still pre-production, with the latter navigating script and directorial changes.
“Thunderbolts” garners excitement with its star-studded cast, including MCU veterans and new faces. Director Jake Schreier’s involvement, confirmed at the San Diego Comic-Con, adds to the anticipation.
Meanwhile, “Blade’s” production journey has been rocky. Announced in 2019 with Mahershala Ali, it experienced creative shifts. Director Yann Demange’s hints at an R-rating and a sub-$100 million budget indicate a potential resolution to its script issues.
As Marvel Studios navigates these changes, fans eagerly await the next phases of the MCU, marked by creative resilience and adaptation.
